January is emerging into a rainy February, said Princess Haiku.
I was out walking today and saw a pansy deep in Winter thought
and a dragon room with a ceiling of tree.
I must be dreaming she thought or perhaps I am caught in the reflection of a little winter puddle.
The name pansy is derived from the French word pensée meaning "thought", and was so named because the flower resembles a human face; in August it nods forward as if deep in thought. Because of this the pansy has long been a symbol of Free thought.

These photos are amazing. I love pansies and that one is a beauty. We won't be seeing in pansies here for 3 months ..LOL
I would love to have a room like the one in that photo. I love light!
Thanks for stopping by and the kind comments about my blog.
Great post. I learned something and saw beauty. What a fascinating photo....
I read in my book "le langage des fleurs" (The language of flowers) that William Shakespeare knew this one very well. Ophelia made a funeral bunch of pansy, rosemary, violet and daisy for her brother.
(Pansy is edible you know, and very pretty in a salad)
I had no idea; makes me want to go dig up my pansy photos and take a look; interesting second photo - hos did you do that?
Oh that's lovely, I never knew that about the pany's name.
J- The room with a treetop photo was an accident. Have no idea how that happened.
