Princess Haiku is noted on "Best Poetry Blogs" via....said Princess Haiku

I was happy and appreciative to discover that Accredited Online Colleges voted Princess Haiku as one of the top poetry blogs on the web. Now, I have to go visit the others and you might want to also as they have made a great list of poetry blogs to visit.

This is the little letter that I sent to them:

Dear Emma,

Thanks for including me on a great poetry list.

I linked to your web page and will enjoy visiting some of the other blogs. When I started my simple blog of poetic musings I had no idea that so many other people would like to read it. Well, in the end it is the simple, natural and elegant things in life; like poetry and sea water pearls that bring so much joy...

Haiku Master Buson

I found a little volume of Haiku by Master Buson which is perfect for this clear evening.

The going of spring!
The fading away of purple
from Tsukuba mountain.

world always leaving
spring,
the voice reflecting
a river.

a winter haiku, said Princess Haiku

One of my favorite blog friends in Japan disappeared suddenly and I wrote this haiku for them. Online friendships or connections are not exactly real and yet when we lose them, there is this absence.

A Poet's Path

secretly, my brush
dipping into haiku ink
a poem emerges

I was reading a journal from last winter and this small poem was written on the inside cover. Princess Haiku, I mused, winter is passing and few poems to show for the long dark nights. While I have been caught up in every day life, the breath of my poetry has been silent. Nature has given pen and ink to one who hesitates at times, to peer beneath the surface of feelings. The "great plunge" is often difficult and a poet can be seduced by moonlight, music and illusions.
