The return of light is a perfect time said Princess Haiku

The earth is silent and sleeping said, Princess Haiku but its days are growing longer. December light is everywhere and frozen into snow crystals, clouds, and far memories. If you thought I had disappeared forever; well not yet. -Although surely that day will come. The return of light is the perfect time to awaken my sleeping blog.  Will you dance with me Winter, she asked swirling into an icy wind.

simplicity of a lily, said Princess Haiku

I captured these lilies in the Conservatory of Flowers recently and fell in love with their elegance & simple beauty. Wouldn't it be wonderful to wake up one morning and discover hair this color in the mirror!

forthcoming "De Profoundus Anthology" from Sybaritic Press

Thanks to editor/poet, Marie Lecrivain for accepting my poem, "Lady of Rocamadour" for the forthcoming De Profundis Anthology from Sybaritic Press. I am very excited about this project and was very inspired after reading, Oscar Wilde's Essay.

the moon after rain said Princess Haiku

The Moon After Rain

Kunai-kyo
Died 1205

Isn't she waiting for the moon in the village at the end of the clouds as the fierce rains recede?

On the Moon above the Chrysanthemums on the Woven Fence:

Waiting for frost the chrysanthemums on the woven fence take on the color of the moon at the rim of hills.

On Mount tatsuta the storm must have weakened at the peak: even the water uncrossed has torn brocade.

the last flowers of Autumn said, Princess Haiku

These lovely pink blooms were captured in the dahlia garden outside of the Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco. Autumn flowers are often the most spectacular: dahlias, fuji mums, spider chrysanthemums and late roses. As  regrets for the passing of summer fill my heart these flowers are a sweet consolation.

a mysterious atmosphere said Princess Haiku

I captured this image in the butterfly display at the Conservatory of Flowers today. So often things are not what they seem and the atmosphere of this exhibit belonged as much to midnight as butterflies do the sun.

lily pad in stone said, Princess Haiku

I was disappointed to discover that the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers no longer has an Amazon Lily in its flower collection. However, it does has a large and interesting sculpture of one which I am posting. One of the SFCF volunteers was kind enough to point it out to me.
