LibraryThing is an amazing book oriented, social net-working space on the web.
It allows you to catalog your own library, cruise the virtual book shelves of other people, read and write book reviews and obtain free advanced copies of great books through their "early reviewer's program."
This new web site offers entrance to the dazzling "inner pages" of book people from around the globe. I am in the process of adding some of my favorite books to my Princess Haiku list.
If you are a bibliophile, this is as good as it gets.

It's interresting, so one can have a good idea of somebody, Princess Haiku for instance.
When I was a kid, i had a lot of books, I used to go at three libraries, to buy books with my pocket money. I made a list for my friends, however nobody had books for giving in exchange.

I've been thinking about reading more...this is very opportune. Since blogging I read far less than I used to.
Very interesting. Now that I have begun with this, I find it a monumental task to recall everything I've read, but rewarding as a reminder of influences along the way.
Cergie, I was thinking about your early interest in reading and began to wonder if the "book" thing often starts in life. Know it did for me. I think I will do a post on "early memories of the bibliophile." Thanks for your thoughtful comment.
Greg.. should have put up a warning label on the post about LibraryThing. I am already up to the maximum input allowed for free accounts and have to go back and label everything. This could go on and on.... Let me know how to find your library and do you think it would be fair to include books one once owned?

Ahh that is a nice webware. There is also an option to give you a code so you can paste in your blog your book preferences. Really nice!

As to posting the books I have merely owned but not read; There was a time just after college when my new affluence was poured into my library, over fifty percent of which I never got around to reading before post marriage liquidation. I have no desire to collect so many carrots ahead of my appetite again, they dessicate on the shelves if not digested before storage. These days I give them away as soon as I read them.
