LibraryThing at night is a bibliophile's delight, said Princess Haiku

LibraryThing is an amazing book oriented, social net-working space on the web.

It allows you to catalog your own library, cruise the virtual book shelves of other people, read and write book reviews and obtain free advanced copies of great books through their "early reviewer's program."

This new web site offers entrance to the dazzling "inner pages" of book people from around the globe. I am in the process of adding some of my favorite books to my Princess Haiku list.

If you are a bibliophile, this is as good as it gets.

It's interresting, so one can have a good idea of somebody, Princess Haiku for instance.
When I was a kid, i had a lot of books, I used to go at three libraries, to buy books with my pocket money. I made a list for my friends, however nobody had books for giving in exchange.

Thanks for the link!

Shelfari is another one if you haven't seen it.

Will search the LT later today. Sounds a bit better than S already!

Cheers! from Daly City, Sausalito, to indy-anna! ; )

I've been thinking about reading more...this is very opportune. Since blogging I read far less than I used to.

Very interesting. Now that I have begun with this, I find it a monumental task to recall everything I've read, but rewarding as a reminder of influences along the way.

Cergie, I was thinking about your early interest in reading and began to wonder if the "book" thing often starts in life. Know it did for me. I think I will do a post on "early memories of the bibliophile." Thanks for your thoughtful comment.

Greg.. should have put up a warning label on the post about LibraryThing. I am already up to the maximum input allowed for free accounts and have to go back and label everything. This could go on and on.... Let me know how to find your library and do you think it would be fair to include books one once owned?

CoffeeM.. will check out that other site although it's kind of the last thing I should do. The moth to the flame and all that. :)

If I get into books once owned, I'll be out of circulation for a long time. But the thought of "early memories of the bibliophile" appeals. Looking forward to what you have to say on the topic.

Dennis needs some anger management books. And just some nice books in general.

Two quick comments, not at all related to this post, so forgive me. One, on another blog I have, www.wordsfromthenorthwestwoods.blogspot.com, I wrote about Ghost Flowers and then belatedly thought of your earlier post and your possible interest in the topic. Secondly, I think I should consider having a copyright statement such as you have. Do you mind telling how you were able to add this? Thanks so much!

This sounds veeeerrrrryyy interesting. Thanks for passing it on.

BTW, I finally got around to posting my "Six Word Memoir."

And thank you! It was fun.

Ahh that is a nice webware. There is also an option to give you a code so you can paste in your blog your book preferences. Really nice!

Thanks for sharing Princess!

Sounds great! I wish I had time for another site OR for reading! :)

Dennis might need to write his own book. :)

This looks like fun, Princess, though it would take more time than I'll ever have to catalog my library! Books have always been some of my most trusted (and most dependable) friends.

It's a great site but I found it chewed up too much time.

As to posting the books I have merely owned but not read; There was a time just after college when my new affluence was poured into my library, over fifty percent of which I never got around to reading before post marriage liquidation. I have no desire to collect so many carrots ahead of my appetite again, they dessicate on the shelves if not digested before storage. These days I give them away as soon as I read them.
