Wassily Kandinsky on Spirituality in Art

I saw a reference to this book, "Concerning the Spiritual in Art," on Julian Pegler's Blog and it's now on my to read list. Has anyone else read it? I like Julian's concept of the Creativist and his blog is always worth the visit.

A dreamy blog that vanished for a while and has now resurfaced is Cities Beneath the Sea; try this one too.

Blue Tea
and Japonisme also offer visual delights and sundry escapisms.

I read this when I was in college and was deeply offended as only a young artist out to challenge the art world could be! I have since gone back to it and found it very dated & a bit rigid (on interpretation of color meaning) but mostly harmless. At the time it was written, however, it must have been amazing. The most important thing in the book, a point not to be taken lightly, is that color has a “psychic effect” which corresponds to a spiritual vibration. He could draw this point out more, but it is interesting.

I like this vibration thing; sounds very scriabin-esque to me.

I think we were. That has happened with me before with one other blogger that I am very intuned with.
