The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock

T.S. Eliot - The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock

Shall I part my hair behind?

Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.

I have seen them riding seaward on the waves
Combing the white hair of the waves blown back
When the wind blows the water white and black.

We have lingered in the chambers of the sea
By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown
Till human voices wake us, and we drown.

We live in a world that does not protect or support poets. What would life be like without them?

I don't know what it is for sure but it looks like a pink tiger lily.

Darn, I was going to ask what the last flower was too... I guess I'm going to have to ask my sister... she knows gardens way better than I do.

You're right about society not being the same without the poets... what a smaller world view we would have!

I was just re-reading this poem the other day, and then I visited your blog to find that you posted an exerpt!

My favorite lines from this poem are the first:

"Let us go then, you and I,
When the evening is spread out against the sky."

This poem seems sad to me
And I find that the picture in the middle is crying with blood tears...
Gorgeous.

I sent this one to a friend of ours (RDG) not long ago....
i had never seen the entire poem but was amazed at how many songs I knew that used lines from it... or referenced it in some manner.

Dear Princess
have you been taking pictures of flowers for long time? Do you have a lot of flowers at your home?
Do you also draw or paint them?
Maybe you like Thierry Feuz'work: http://www.thierryfeuz.com/ (the supernatural series)

I love that photo in the middle - it's such a perfect world of colors.

(all of the photos are excellent!)

Hi Indy,
I liked the middle one best too. It was a tree and those are just leave, not flowers.

I wish I knew what that flower was Jac and Annelisa.
