Garden tours await

I found this beautiful image of Kuniyoshi via one of my favorite spaces, Japonisme. I stopped to say hi to her before I left for my whirlwind garden touring and voila- there it was. Yes, irresistible.

Gardeners in the North Bay are presenting a series of Garden Tours this week-end as a fund-raiser. I have my walking shoes on and extra batteries stashed in my little camera case. This is so exciting.... flowers, flowers, flowers await. A feature attraction of one of the gardens is Sheldon, a 40 year old tortoise who strolls around his garden. Hopefully, I will have a photo of him later.

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday with friends and loved ones. I am in a good mood even though it is overcast. We just have to take our days the way they come.

Hailing from the North Bay, your post has made me quite homesick...

And your introduction to the day is stunning! I recently heard Tarkovsky describe how he came upon a field of white flowers at dusk, or perhaps it was dawn, and how he mistook them for a veil of fog...

Japonisme is certainly stunning... in almost every way. I was perusing a book store the other day and I came across a gargantuon volume called Japonisme. Do you know if the author of Japonisme is blogging the book? I didn't connect the contents of the book with the blog necessarily because I was without a computer at the time but the book looked very similar to what is going on at the website.
Either way, it's very enjoyable!

Dear Princess haiku,

I have just done my homework and discovered that Japonisme is a popular term used to describe the influence of east on west in Japanese art culture etc. I also discovered that the large volume I discovered at the bookstore was the Phaidon release by Lionel Lambourne.
I solved part of my own mystery!

Sincerely,
Camille

Upon further investigation, Camille discovers (chuckle... please forgive me for submitting my train of thought here) Miss Lotusgreen's bibliography. Indeed the volume Japonisme: Cultural Crossings Between Japan and the West published by Phaidon is there, among many many others! That is some library!

As I have now answered my own question... I bid you a wonderful garden touring Sunday!

Kindly,
Camille

Hello, Princess Haiku!
I'm curious. None of my comments on your site appear to be accepted. Is it something I've done?
Best wishes...

Camille- you are right about Lotusgreen being a scholar- her space is extraordinary.
