Anaglyph's Meme
"Here is my interpretation of Anaglyph's meme.
I love the randomness of it and here are the instructions: Go to Google Images and enter your birth date as six figures: ddmmyy (or mmddyy if you are an American.) Pick any five pictures from the first page of results only. Then post them somewhere we can see!"
This is the ones that I found, said Princess Haiku. I found this via The Daily Narcissist.

surprised by Yellow, said Princess Haiku

The sky was dark and poignant with rain. There was a pause before the first drops fell and it was YELLOW! How is it that I found yellow today when I was looking for grey clouds.

a dream, said Princess Haiku

"Who know not love from amity,
Nor my reported self from me;
A fair fit gift is this, meseems,
You give--this withering flower of dreams.
"O frankly fickle, and fickly true,
Do you know what the days will do to you?
To your Love and you what the days will do,
O frankly fickle, and fickly true?
"You have loved me, Fair, three lives--or days:
'Twill pass with the passing of my face.
But where I go, your face goes too,
To watch lest I play false to you.
"I am but, my sweet, your foster-lover,
Knowing well when certain years are over
You vanish from me to another;
Yet I know, and love, like the foster-mother.
"So, frankly fickle, and fickly true!
For my brief life--while I take from you
This token, fair and fit, meseems,
For me--this withering flower of dreams."

The sleep-flower sways in the wheat its head,
Heavy with dreams, as that with bread:
The goodly grain and the sun-flushed sleeper
The reaper reaps, and Time the reaper.
I hang 'mid men my needless head,
And my fruit is dreams, as theirs is bread:
The goodly men and the sun-hazed sleeper
Time shall reap, but after the reaper
The world shall glean of me, me the sleeper!

Wassily Kandinsky on Spirituality in Art

I saw a reference to this book, "Concerning the Spiritual in Art," on Julian Pegler's Blog and it's now on my to read list. Has anyone else read it? I like Julian's concept of the Creativist and his blog is always worth the visit.
A dreamy blog that vanished for a while and has now resurfaced is Cities Beneath the Sea; try this one too.
Blue Tea and Japonisme also offer visual delights and sundry escapisms.

magic, mirrors and transparencies

I came across this mirror in an antique store and wondered who had last seen their dreams in it? Is it possible it was this mirror's fate to have never reflected any? What dreams would you give to it; lost transparent gatherer of a thousand souls.

fairy tale pumpkin as white as the moon

I found a "fairy tale" pumpkin today at a patch today that is white and as pale as the moon. I wonder what special energy it will evoke on all hallows eve. I am looking forward to carving a geisha face on it and photos will be forthcoming. Legend has it that on all hallows eve the veil between the world lifts. I will keep you updated on my experience of this pale ghost.
The albinos are called ghost pumpkins or Luminas. A ghost pumpkin is perfect for me said Princess Haiku, we will look like each other. -Ghostly, that is.
BTW Supposedly the San Francisco Halloween carnival is "off." I will let you know if a quarter million people are ready to give up the party. The city of SF is calling it "Halloween at Home" night. Sounds like a party squash to me.

mermaids

It is often presumed that mermaids are singing to humans, but I doubt this. I think their most special songs are for each other. What do you think?

Joni Mitchell Retrospective

Joni Mitchell's finest musical compositions expressed acute loss and pain over the adoption of her daughter. Why does art demand sorrow?

Blue Tea's meme leads to urban flute practice

Bluewyvern, at one of my favorite blogs; Blue Tea tagged me with this meme some time ago and finally I am catching up with my blogging. Here goes and the meme is as described in her words.
"Just for kicks, let's make this a meme, with rules and tagging and all that. (My first!) Rules: Devise a list of 5-10 courses you would take to fix your life. It's more fun to be in classes with friends, so include one class from the person who tagged you that you'd also like to take. Tag five."
1) The first course or lessons would involve what I have been doing for some time; taking flute lessons. My urban flute practice has been going rather well lately I am glad to report. That isn't always true. The last year of lessons has been stormy and a few times I was tempted to leave it behind. However, music enhances my life and heart in a way that nothing else does. I would bring my friend Bluewyvern to flute class with me as I think this urbane, artistic, internet explorer would be up for the challenge.
2) I would take a French class as I already know a little and I read somewhere that studying a new language is a way to keep your brain conditioned.
3) I would take surfing lessons. Well, that is a reach for a bookworm such as myself but I think it would help me develop physical strength, courage and be a dazzling experience.
4) I would take an art history course so that I could make informed comments on my friend Moon River's blog. Where is that elusive moon by the way?
5) I would take a course(s) that my blog readers think what be beneficial. What class do you want to take with a blog buddy?
I am going to tag some bloggers that I know are life long learners and although a few of them are on sabbatical; soon enough they will return. Don't we all?
Catch the Tag if you will....

Awash in a Sea of Magenta
It was a "meditation on a theme of magenta moment" and I realized how inevitable the cycles of life are; how we all belong to unending struggle. For just a second I found peace when my mind was awash in a sea of Magenta.
Today.. a continuum.

Pink flower shadows of the merry-go-round

Hurdy gurdy music hurtled across the fairground and children turned cartwheels at the talent show. Gasps of delight filled a funhouse of far memory where dreamy days of childhood linger. Pink shadows of the merry-go-round glint in circles against mind.

Pursuing gold tears

I promised to collect gold tears of a rose before dawn broke, but I was too late. Before my eyes opened from sleep the petals of the flower had already become the sun. I will spend the day trailing after its shadow.
